"The fact is, AVEENO® doesn't conduct animal testing of our cosmetic products anywhere in the world, except in the rare situation where governments or laws require it. At AVEENO®, we won't ever compromise on the quality or safety of our products or stop seeking alternatives to animal testing."
"Johnson & Johnson cares about the well-being of animals and our Consumer Health business does not conduct animal testing in the research or development of our cosmetic products. Safety is our first priority and we believe that our cosmetic products can be validated as safe and effective without compromising animal welfare.
As part of our Safety and Care Commitment, we make the conscious choice to only advance the development of cosmetic products that meet our own safety requirements without the need for animal testing. Using the latest non-animal research methods as well as choosing ingredients we believe can be scientifically validated without new animal data, we formulate our cosmetic products safely while avoiding new animal testing as part of our development process.
Our commitment to this issue dates back decades, to when Johnson & Johnson’s scientists were among the first to stop testing on animal’s eyes and incorporate non-animal alternative methods into our JOHNSON'S® NO MORE TEARS® claim substantiation...
Most government regulators around the world accept the validity of non-animal testing data for cosmetics. However, some continue to require animal testing for new product safety submissions or for environmental and/or workplace safety regulatory assessments for ingredients. These requirements are outside of our own product development processes and do not diminish our strong commitment to animal welfare. In fact, for over 30 years, we have been committed to the advancement and acceptance of non-animal testing methods and continue to work with legislators, policy makers, and scientific and industry organizations around the world to gain wider acceptance of alternatives to cosmetic animal testing and public policy that reduces or eliminates such animal testing altogether."
