FAQs

How do I permanently get rid of blackheads on my nose?

Dealing with blackheads on the nose is incredibly common. In order to treat current blackheads and prevent new ones from forming, you need to be consistent with a targeted skincare routine that contains effective products. One of the best ways to permanently get rid of blackheads is to regularly use a chemical exfoliant containing salicylic acid, like any of the recommended products above. An exfoliant will help keep pores clear of sebum and excess debris that can cause blackheads. You may also consider adding a retinoid and/or benzoyl peroxide product to your routine, as these ingredients can also help keep blackheads (and other blemishes) at bay. You can create a routine with all three of these types of products, but keep in mind that you will need to use them at different times, as these ingredients don’t play well together.

How do you get rid of deep blackheads?

To get rid of deep blackheads, it’s important to regularly use a salicylic acid product (possibly along with retinoid and/or benzoyl peroxide products). If you’ve been consistently using these targeted products and aren’t seeing any results, you might consider using a comedone extractor. However, it is incredibly important to first learn how to properly use this tool, as improper use can damage the skin (and may make blackheads even worse). A safer (and likely more effective) option is to meet with a dermatologist. They may recommend an extraction facial, or prescribe a higher-strength prescription topical.

Can I use vitamin C with salicylic acid?

It is best to avoid layering a vitamin C product with a salicylic acid product at the same time. Both of these ingredients have a risk of causing irritation and dryness, and using them together will increase the likelihood of this happening. Additionally, the salicylic acid may reduce the effectiveness of the vitamin C. For the best results, use these products at different times (for example, apply your vitamin C product in the morning, and your salicylic acid product at night).

The Bottom Line

Salicylic acid can make a huge difference in your overall complexion, and can help treat current blackheads while preventing new ones from forming. If you’re dealing with blackheads, consider adding one of our recommended salicylic acid products to your routine.
